In an interview released almost 30 years after it was recorded, Kurt Cobain spoke on rap music -- and specifically white people doing.
"I’m a fan of rap music, but most of it is so misogynist that I can’t even deal with it. I’m really not that much of a fan, I totally respect and love it because it’s one of the only original forms of music that’s been introduced, but the white man doing rap is just like watching a white man dance. We can’t dance, we can’t rap," Cobain said.
The interview took place in 1991, so that was before Eminem and the many white rappers who are currently doing their thing. It was after the Beastie Boys, who definitely used to practice the kind of misogyny that rubbed the late Nirvana legend the wrong way.
Jump to the 7:30 mark to hear Cobain on Caucasians who (try) to spit. The interviewer said he didn't release the interview for all of those years because he thought did a terrible, unprofessional job but recently realized he needed to let it out because it's part of history.
